If you have an iPad or iPhone its is very simple to change the setting to prevent this happening.
Here is a 5 step guide.
Click on settings:-

Click on General:-

Scroll down to Restrictions:-

Enable restrictions. It now asks you to enter a 4 digit pin. Make this different from your normal lock screen as most children know this number. Enter it again to confirm.

Finally scroll down too turn in app purchases off. There are also many other options to look at like the purchasing of apps, music etc.
